QMusic has launched a new series of online, free workshops – QMusic Connect – designed to support and up-skill Queensland's music industry.
Beginning earlier this month, the first stage of QMusic Connect is COVID-19 Crisis Talks that are split into six sessions detailing topics such as mental health, self-promotion, digital service providers and taxation. Each workshop features an array of industry leaders and professionals in online panel discussions. The final session of COVID-19 Crisis Talks premieres tonight, with the previous five workshops available to stream now via QMusic's Facebook page.
QMusic Connect will continue with four sessions dedicated to regional community discussions (the first part commences tomorrow) as well as the Masterclass Series (featuring seven sessions that premieres from 23 April). “Our music industry, like most industries, is facing massive and unprecedented challenges that require immediate support,” QMusic CEO Angela Samut said.
“In response, QMusic is rolling out QMusic Connect over the next six months which is an online series of workshops and masterclasses that has been curated to help develop skills, knowledge, tools and connections for artists and music industry professionals.
“As an industry, we have proven time and again that we are resilient, innovative and creative. We anticipate that our local community will emerge from the current crisis with stronger connections and a proliferation of collaborations from across our state from Coolangatta to Cape York to Winton.
“We will rebuild ourselves even stronger than before and create great music and resilient music entrepreneurs that will entertain and inform generations to come,” Ms Samut said.
QMusic has teamed up with Brisbane music distribution and artist services company GYROstream, Yamaha Music and hum hum to offer some great participant prizes. All registered workshop attendees will be in the running to win the packages.
