Hip hop icons, New York's Public Enemy return to Australia in 2024 for the first time in eight years.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees (2013) and social rights activists are bringing the On The Grid 35th anniversary tour to Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane this October.Formed in 1985 in Long Island by friends Chuck D and Flavor Flav, Public Enemy released their debut album 'Yo! Bum Rush The Show' in 1987. It was their sophomore record, 1988's 'It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back' (featuring such cuts as 'Don't Believe The Hype', 'Bring The Noise' and 'Rebel Without A Pause'), that catapulted the group into international fame.
They have released 14 studio albums – their most recent LP being 2020's 'What You Gonna Do When The Grid Goes Down?' – producing such classics as 'Harder Than You Think', 'He Got Game', 'Fight The Power' and 'Shut 'Em Up' (with The Prodigy).
Public Enemy also laid the foundation for their revolutionary sound, blending assertive beats with sharp social commentary. They were, and remain, at the forefront of the fight against racial injustice and inequality, using their platform to raise awareness and spark meaningful dialogue.
Main support for the tour will be Australian hip hop duo, A.B Original – the collaboration between artist, activist and author Briggs and MC and multi ARIA Award-winning producer Trials. "Proud to announce we are joining rap revolutionaries Public Enemy this October."
