An iconic song of Australian radio in the '80s, Pseudo Echo celebrate the 40th anniversary of their international smash hit 'Funky Town' (a cover of Lipps Inc.'s 1980 disco anthem) with a national tour.
To take place throughout 2026, the 19-date tour will visit Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne (multiple times), Sydney (multiple times), Townsville, Central Coast, and Hobart as well as several other regional locales.
One of Australia's forerunners of the new wave scene, at their peak throughout the 1980s Pseudo Echo released a string of Top 20 hits – including 'Listening', 'A Beat For You', 'Don't Go', 'Love An Adventure', and 'Living In A Dream'.
They were also the first unsigned band to appear on Molly Meldrum's 'Countdown' in 1983 (the show having debuted in 1974), which led to their signing to EMI and the albums 'Autumnal Park' (1984) and 'Love An Adventure' (1985), the latter re-released a year later with 'Funky Town' added to the tracklisting.
'Funky Town' spent seven weeks at #1 on the Australian Singles Chart, also achieving #1 results in New Zealand and Canada as well as Top 10 results in America and the UK.
"It's kind of surreal to think it's been that long – one day I was forming a band, and now, 40 years have passed," reflects Brian Canham, who formed the band with Pierre Gigliotti and Tony Lugton.
Brian is the only remaining member from the '80s incarnation of Pseudo Echo. "Even more incredible is that the song and the album still resonate," he adds.
"I'm unbelievably proud of the serendipity behind it, and it's wonderful to be celebrating it together with our fans on tour."
