Pseudo Echo Australia 2025 Tour

Pseudo Echo
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.
Update - 28 January, 2025: Pseudo Echo have added a number of shows in Sydney and Melbourne as well as including a WA leg that'll visit Perth, Bunbury, and Fremantle. Scroll down for the details.

Currently at the tail end of an east-coast tour, Australian new wave legends Pseudo Echo will return to the road early next year to celebrate a major milestone.

Best known for their classic 1986 hit 'Funky Town' (ask any kid of the '80s, this was a staple of any bedroom set list screaming into the hairbrush-mic – no jokes!), the Melbourne group will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their third record, 'Love An Adventure', with an eight-date tour next February-March.

An album that allowed Pseudo Echo to build an international following that saw them travel to USA, Canada, Europe and Asia, 'Love An Adventure' spent more than six months on the US Billboard charts and was packed with hits 'Don't Go', 'Living In A Dream' and the title track.

While recorded in separate studio sessions, the immediate impact of 'Funky Town' in 1986, which spent seven weeks at #1 in Australia, compelled the band and their label to reissue 'Love An Adventure' to include 'Funky Town' – and led to four ARIA nominations including Best Group in 1987.

Although deep into their fifth decade, the band's only original member and co-founder, singer-guitarist Brian Canham has produced a new single 'Love An Adventure (Machine Remix)', which sees Pseudo Echo pursue a darker, more electronic direction.

"We incorporated elements of techno and industrial as well as the featured dark low-tuned guitar. . . in contrast to the original which had no guitar," Brian explains. "There is a homage to the original version, incorporating the disco style string stabs originally recorded using the MSO."

Tickets are on sale.
