Psychedelic groove masters, Primal Scream return to Australia in 2025 – their first concerts down under since 2018.
The 'Movin' On Up', 'Rocks' and 'Loaded' indietronica garage rockers will headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle in January.A band who have influenced current trendsetters like Fontaines D.C. to Dua Lipa, fans can expect to hear all the hits from the Glasgow pioneers; alongside the aforementioned bangers, there'll be 'Country Girl', 'Kill All Hippies', 'Come Together', 'Swastika Eyes' and host of deeper cuts and live favourites.
The news arrives in the wake of the group's first new album in eight years (and 12th overall); 'Come Ahead' will drop 8 November (pre-order it), the band teasing the record with the singles 'Love Insurrection' and 'Deep Dark Waters'.
"I'm very excited about this album in a way that you would be making your first record," the group's principal songwriter, vocalist and frontman Bobby Gillespie says.
"If there was an overall theme to 'Come Ahead' it might be one of conflict, whether inner or outer. There is also a thread of compassion running through the album.
"The title is a Glaswegian term. If someone threatens to fight you, you say, 'come ahead!' It's redolent of the indomitable spirit of the Glaswegian, and the album itself shares that aggressive attitude and confidence. They have a word for this up there, gallus. 'Come Ahead''s quite a cheeky title too."
