Zachary Leo's newest single is titled 'Can't Get Enough'.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Melbourne groove merchant, indie artist Zachary Leo mixes together delicious sounding wah guitars, basslines that slap hard and synths that evoke lush soundscapes.

Dripping in vintage-flavoured funk with a melody that oozes laidback, soulful pop feels, and hushed-honeyed vocals that coo seductively, Leo's newest single 'Can't Get Enough' courts the inner romantic in all of us.

"I like to think of my music as a vintage sound with a modern pop structure, taking influence from genres like funk/ soul/ rock and pop," Zachary says.

"There is strong emphasis on melody and groove as well as lots of wah guitar, driving basslines and airy synths."

With 'Can't Get Enough' released today (24 May), scenestr is excited to premiere the song's music video. Enjoy.

"The song speaks about being addicted to something that isn't good for you and constantly wanting to distance yourself from reality, something that I found myself doing a lot over the past few years," adds Leo.

"A lot of my music tends to relate to what is going on inside my head, whether that be happy feelings or feelings of sadness.

"There are also frequent links to mental health which is something I feel very passionate about sharing with the world, so that hopefully others can feel they aren't alone in their struggles."

The song's music clip – that features heavily a sepia tinge, bold colours, and vintage paraphernalia – is an ode to a summer past gone.

"Brandon (director) and I went for a vintage St Kilda Beach vibe for this video and had the amazing Nicole Slovak skating throughout.

"We shot the video at a number of beaches including St Kilda, Cape Schanck and Shorearm and used props supplied by Mission Brown, a company owned by Brandon that sells and restores vintage furniture.

"The video depicts a man struggling to deal with his love for the girl on the roller skates, but deep down what he is really dealing with is his addiction to material possessions that are distorting his reality; this is shown through the television and the lamp that are flashed throughout the video."

Zachary Leo plays Cherry Bar (Melbourne) 10 June.
