Formerly known as NVY, Coffs Harbour-based hip hop artist YoungBear has spent the past few months focusing on creating melodic hip hop oozing feel-good vibes.
More than a new chapter, the era of YoungBear begins tomorrow (16 April) with the release of his debut single and music video 'Foreign'.
A catchy af slice of R&B flavoured hip hop, 'Foreign' is the first sample from YoungBear's debut EP 'Misbehaviour' that's due to be released next month. "I wrote 'Foreign' with the intentions of creating a feel-good hit with an Afrobeat style," YoungBear says.
"I live on the sunny Coffs Coast and often love to cruise around in my Audi with no plans or places to be, often with my muse riding shotgun absolutely jamming out to our favourite songs.
"I wanted to capture that moment and share it with the world."
scenestr is stoked to premiere to the 'Foreign' music video today. Enjoy.
The moniker of Hamish Stuart, who has been writing music since he was just 10, he decided last year to focus solely on writing and releasing a melodic style of hip hop.
The extra time COVID lockdowns afforded him, allowed Hamish the opportunity to reinvent himself with YoungBear the end result.
"This project really flourished with the help of my producer Sheph and co-producer Barry," adds Hamish.
"Travelling down to Sydney to record the vocals, we wanted to make a bold statement and a piece that you can't get out of your head.
"'Foreign' is my way of entering the music scene and paving a path for my future body of work."
