Just over a month since their newest single, 'Scout's Honour', debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country Singles Chart, sibling trio Vixens Of Fall have created a music video for the song that was inspired by the latest addition to the family.
'Scout’s Honour' is a loving tribute to Nina's newborn baby girl, Scarlett. "From the first kick I knew my whole world would revolve around you," sings Nina, already head-over-heels in love with the life stirring inside her. "Like a four leaf clover, I'll be watching over, like a lucky charm just for you," she promises. Both a friend of the family as well as previously collaborating with Vixens Of Fall, Gina Jeffreys was inspired to join them and co-write a song after learning about Scarlett's nickname – Scout.
The song was penned by Jeffreys and Vixens Of Fall as well as Rod McCormack and Nashville hit songwriters Templeton Thompson and Sam Gay, with McCormack (Paul Kelly, The McClymonts, Wendy Matthews) producing the track at The Music Cellar.
scenestr is stoked to premiere the 'Scout's Honour' music video today. Enjoy.
A letter from Vixens Of Fall:
Well, what a year it has been so far.... And it's only just turned August!
Vixens of Fall has been paw to floor and not stopping for no pandemic (within reason of course)! The year 2020 definitely had its challenges and we took those on with the sass and whit the folk know us for - haha! And it would seem 2021 isn't too much different with a few exceptions of sporadic lockdowns.
Zoom and video chats alike became our daily form of communication and inspiration of new and exciting ways to get us "out there" have been a'flowin. We were named ICMA - Independent Country Music Awards 'Most Popular Independent Country Band' 2021 and were incredibly, one of four nominees in the Country category for the 2021 QMusic Awards - Queensland Music. So stoked!
Following the success of our last hit single 'Break It Easy'... comes our mid-tempo ballad 'Scout's Honour' and what a privilege and great honour it was to work with the beautiful hearted Gina Jeffreys, phenomenal Rod McCormack and Nashville's dynamic duo, Sam Gay & Templeton Thompson, again!
Our second single for the year 2021, debuting at NO.1 across the Australian iTunes Country Music chart... wow!! It debuted at NO.21 all genres, was added to Apple's 'Aussie Country' playlist and Spotify's 'Country Chill' playlist, and was the No.1 Most downloaded on Play MPE. We are so grateful and blessed for our amazing Music Family and the support from friends, family and; we'll say it .. fans! Thank you!!!
Ms Gina Jeffrey's was inspired on her daily morning walk for the idea of 'Scout's Honour' after eldest sister Vixen, Nina announced that she was pregnant and that a little baby girl Vixen, was on the way! Oh how we all sparkled in the eyes when Gina attempted to sing the chorus... we were so full of happy emotions that there was not a dry eye to be seen.
'Scout's Honour' is dedicated to our little bundle of joy Scarlett 'Scout' Maeve. Only 8 weeks old and has a No.1 hit to her name! On the zoom room we popped with Gina, Rod, Sam & Tempy and collectively with so much love, devotion and dedication to the songs meaning, we all wrote. After that writing session we were tears of love continued to flow.
Simply put but with the deepest thought and care; 'Scout's Honour' is about a Mother's (or parent's) promise to their child to always love, guide and protect them.
Mid May 2021, at 9 months pregnant and unknowingly a couple of weeks before Nina giving birth, we nipped down to Terregal, NSW from Brisbane, QLD... a healthy, 10 hour quick (super uncomfortable for Nina) drive to record with well-known Producer/Musician extraordinaire, Rod McCormack at the legendary Music Cellar.
A little less red wine for some this time 'round, we spent the weekend with Gina and Rod recording vocals and having the time of our lives creating music magick! Nina says "no one is ever recording vocals at 9 months pregnant again... tried and tested.. 10 out of 10 wouldn't recommend". Haha! Although a little difficult to record through pregnancy and all the happy tears, we can't help but be super beyond proud of 'Scout's Honour'.
As per usual, working with our sensationally talented friend and creative videographer Jazmyn Bowman of Jazmyn Produces was fun, easy breezy and a little teary... we are over emotional; we know!! Shot in the rolling hills of Gympie, Queensland; the video is a simple and beautiful concept, showing the picturesque landscape and being in the moment with our Scout. This is a stripped back and intimate film clip that helps share our promise to always love, protect and guide our little magical soul, Scarlett 'Scout' Maeve.
We promise, Scout's Honour; that you will love this song!
Love Always,
Your Vixens xxx
