Adelaide garage, post-punk rockers The Straight-Jacket Tailors have landed with their debut single, 'F#$% Wit'.
The first of three singles the duo of Kristoffer Jaw-Moss and Josh Pullinen (each of fellow Adelaide band Little Captain) plan to release in the coming months ahead of their debut EP, 'F#$% Wit' is a belting grunge-punk number that features a certain ex-PM being well… you know.
"The bulk of the song was written in about two minutes while we were jamming out," says Kristoffer and Josh.
"It started from us taking the piss out of modern punk music, but it has now become quite a favourite of ours to play. The verse lyrics were written a day or two later and then we threw in that soggy riff after the chorus to break it up a bit."
And what about the lead character. What inspired that choice lads? "Around the time that we started thinking of ideas for a video I was re-watching the film 'Frank' and I wanted to do something with a big paper mâché head.
"We then thought 'what person would represent the song the best?' The choice was obvious in going with a certain ex-PM. We made the head over two days then shot it with the help of a couple of friends the day after."
