Melbourne band The Bittermen play psychedelic, reggae-dub inspired indie rock.
Influenced by the likes of Fat Freddy's Drop, Sublime and Bedouin Soundclash, the trio return with their latest offering, the laidback, cruisy 'On All Sides', which scenestr premieres today ahead of its official release 5 March.
"The song evolved from an instrumental that we used to open shows," explains Matt Gill who provides beats and samples for the band.
"The lyrics came about after a ski/ snowboard trip to Victoria's highest mountain (Mount Bogong) where we hiked up at two in the morning.
"We started the hike at midnight in the rain after a five-hour drive, but as we were heading up the ridge the rain cleared and we could see stars on all sides. It was awesome!
"[The song's] about leaving your excuses behind and just doing whatever it is you've been dreaming of."
The video features a less-than confident ten-pin bowler who gets his own back on a couple of punks.
"Our good friend and director Hamish MacGregor was keen to work on a project with us and we had been throwing around a few sporting ideas; after a few White Russians we landed on ten-pin bowling," Matt explains.
"The clip was shot over two days at a very strange, little bowling alley in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Two days in a bowling alley and none of us bowled a single ball!"
