South African born, but currently living in the Sunshine Coast, folk-inspired singer-songwriter Tamsyn follows up her earlier 2022 debut single 'Take You Away' with the simmering, smouldering blues-rock of 'Delicate' that's inflicted with folky overtones.
A song that was written from a personal perspective on guitar with her bestie, Rhiannon Mallet, during a stream of consciousness, 'Delicate' focuses on one-way relationships where your better half is more interested in themselves than you."The song came from a place of arguably justified anger after an incident of disrespect," Tamsyn says.
"I remember reading the quote 'let's normalise not calling women crazy for acting to disrespect' and feeling grateful that my reaction came in the form of this song."
With 'Delicate' released earlier this month, scenestr is stoked to premiere the song's music video today. Enjoy.
With influences including The Audreys, Cat Power, Mazzy Star, and Angus & Julia Stone, Tamsyn is working towards releasing her debut EP in 2022.
As for the music video, it expands on the lyrical themes explored on 'Delicate'. "The video concept was born out of personal experience as well as many similar dating stories recounted by female friends," Tamsyn says.
"We wanted to show some of the perils of modern dating and distractions in a relationship in a creative way."
When it came time to film, Tamsyn already had the perfect location to shoot. "It was filmed on the Sunshine Coast at my guitarist's (Chris Prior) self-built cabin," Tamsyn says.
"His home is like a museum filled with vintage treasures, so we built the concept of the video to show 21st century modern relationship issues through a vintage lens.
"A memorable moment was trying to film a scene where the car was breaking down and lighting a mini fire in the bonnet, and then the bonnet of the car getting stuck!"
