Australian pop singer-songwriter, Simon Astley's newest single 'Sunset Avenue' is yet another serving of feel-good energy that offers listeners a brief escape from the dramas of real life.
"I wanted to write a song that people could feel they could escape to, and whether or not they felt they needed a break from real life, the song would be there to comfort them," Simon says.Originally written when Simon was a teenager ("I was a teenager last week wasn't I? Haha!"), 'Sunset Avenue' is his take on finding a place in Los Angeles that acts as a safe haven, where people don't judge.
"I wrote so many songs with Los Angeles in mind," Astley says. "I think also because there were so many Hollywood movies I loved to watch that were based in LA, that I had this place in my mind to help me bring my songs to life."
With 'Sunset Avenue' released today, scenestr is stoked to premiere the song's music video. Enjoy.
Simon worked with Californian producer Killian Cruiser on 'Sunset Avenue' bringing the Los Angeles theme full circle.
"To have a Los Angeles music producer working on my song, I feel it really ties everything together with the story, and puts the icing on the cake.
"I love cake by the way. . . Chocolate!"
Astley has been collaborating on a song with Irish-Australian singer-songwriter Damien Leith for the second time, after their previous single 'Love For The City' in 2020. They have penned a new track called 'Crossroads', which will be released later in the year.
