Perth alternative rockers Scarlet Drive are gearing up for an October national tour to support the release of their debut EP 'Echoes Of Apprehension' (out 21 September).
With the band fusing elements of punk, reggae and funk into their rock sound, Scarlet Drive are perfect for a fist-pumping aerobic workout.
Ahead of the EP release and tour, the four-piece (Michael Millimaci, Michael 'Curly' Madafferi, Maddey and Amber) are releasing tomorrow (7 September) the video for their newest single, the delectable dance number 'Sad Robot'.
Don't let the title fool you; Scarlet Drive bring the dancing good-feels with a party-funk rock number that sits somewhere between the uptempo madness of Dropkick Murphys and the grooves of The Cat Empire with a hint of Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Scenestr is fired-up to be able to premiere the 'Sad Robot' video clip that features a 'young' robot finding its way in the world.
"We wrote 'Sad Robot' almost two years ago now, and the song for me has always been concerned with the evolving relationship between humanity and technology," Michael Millimaci says.
"People tend to define the distinguishing factor of our humanity as emotional intelligence, yet we have a tendency to treat technology with apathy because of its lack of 'emotion'."
When it came time to film the song's video clip, the band didn't allow budget constraints to derail their creative output, as Maddey explains. "When we decided to shoot a clip for 'Sad Robot' we all knew what we wanted it to look and feel like.
"We weren't on a big-budget and we didn't pretend to be, so we made the filmmaking as honest as possible so everyone could relax on-set and have fun showing our weird, quirky side that we hope transitions on-screen.
"A lot of the ideas you see in the video just came about from mucking around on a shoot."
