Sunshine Coast brothers Tim and Sam Aitken aka Sametime's newest release is titled 'Golden'.
Shiny, sophisticated pop-EDM that bursts with a pulsating energy that gushes over your ears like sensual sonic-honey, 'Golden' then explodes to next-level when the chorus drops and fantastical thoughts invade your mind."The theme for the song was sex," declares Sametime unabashedly. "It was an area we hadn't explored musically and with our music growing and maturing as we are, it felt like the best next step. Plus sex is fun.
"We wanted the song to be about somebody who has an insatiable appetite and is 'Golden', the best of the best.
"We drew from personal experiences and put them on steroids to make it more interesting, something we do a fair bit when writing.
"It's about somebody that knows exactly what they want and isn't afraid to get it. It's from the perspective of someone that loves that energy and wants to do everything they can to facilitate it."
Released last week, scenestr is stoked to premiere the music video for 'Golden' today. Enjoy.
Tim and Sam collaborated with Sydney producer and songwriter Glades (Nicole Millar), perfecting the track over several Zoom sessions.
"We were really into The Weeknd's latest music and themes that he uses," Sametime says.
"Like the last couple of releases this song was written and recorded remotely over Zoom. We spent months trying to perfect the song, going back and forth over multiple sessions.
"We eventually wanted another brain involved to bring something different to the table.
"We brought in Ned Houston who is a great songwriter who we've worked with before over the years. Ned quickly made an impact bringing in new melodies and lyrics that took the song to the level we wanted.
"We've been sitting on this song for so long now in order to get it right, so we're so energised to be releasing it."
Sametime have also returned to the road touring NSW; after a show on Sunday in Wollongong, the pair play Central Coast tomorrow, followed by two Sydney shows next week.
"We set a goal right before COVID took over that we wanted to be the best live act in the country.
"We're incredibly chuffed now that we're able to get out and about in front of new eyes and ears.
"Getting out and playing consistently for a whole month is only going to take us up another level. It's going to be so much fun and we're so excited to be taking our show interstate."
