"P. A. R. T. Y. Have you got the looks? Yeah we got the looks."
Fresh off a massive national tour throughout August, everyone's favourite art-rock punks Regurgitator continue to build momentum with a new video for the 'Party Looks' song, from their bangin', recently released 'Headroxx' album.
With a catchy-as beat and funk-crunchy melody, Regurgitator have delivered the goods, again, with 'Party Looks' the joint to get you upbeat - even on the most dreariest of days. Try not dancing to 'Party Looks', even if it's just in a daydream.
Inspired by misinterpreting someone on a loud dancefloor, the video features an Auslan interpreter - Melinda Busch.
"'Party Looks' was inspired by all the times I’ve found myself in a club where the music was crazy loud and someone has tried to have a conversation with me," the Gurge's Quan Yeomans says. "It’s a transcription of a possible syntax guessed through bad lip reading and associated gestures.
"The idea behind the Auslan interpreter came a bit later through my wife’s work in disability and offers accessibility while facilitating a ’third’ creative process of translation, performance and further ‘blurring’ of the lines.
"I think the song and video highlights my fascination with the abstract nuances of language, along with the whole idea of revealing the profoundly absurd nature of everything."
scenestr is super-pumped and proud to be able to premiere the 'Party Looks' video today.
The video and animations were done by Gold Coast animator and musician Jhonny Russell with Quan doing the post-edit. "We’ve all loved the cut and paste visual work of Jhonny’s art for some time and wanted to let him have his way with the weird language in the tune to see how it might be processed further," Quan says.
Jhonny, who aside from providing art for Regurgitator’s ‘Dirty Pop Fantasy’ album and producing-directing the animated video for their song ‘Sine Wave’, was also behind the art for the LIFE SUPPORT tour poster and associated t-shirts.
Regurgitator would like to thank Deaf Services Qld, Qld State Library and Stoneground TV for their assistance.
