Mainstays of Australia's indie scene for the last half decade, Peach Fur's style of funk-soul-soaked rock & roll has garnered them a loyal legion of followers (10 million streams of their music and counting).
Two years removed from their last release of original music ('Awake' EP), the quartet of Denny Hilder (vocals, guitar), Liam Ward (bass, vocals), Ben Crichton (guitar) and Mikey Woodworth (drums) recently released the colourful, disco-infused jam 'Yummy' – a track about undeniable sexy energy between two individuals."'Yummy' is a colourful disco-funk number that explores the chemistry between two people that have a connection beyond words; on a physical, mental and spiritual level," Denny says.
Recorded at Rocking Horse Studios in Byron and Electric Sugar Studios on the Gold Coast (for the vocals), 'Yummy' was mixed and produced by Blake Malone (Amy Shark, Keelan Mak) and is the lead single of the group's forthcoming new studio album.
Fresh, salty bass slaps with a tropical velvety groove that sexily slinks its way around your ears, 'Yummy' is a tasty morsel of funky soul-rock that bops hard. It's the kind of beat that'll pick up the saddest face and transport them to a wall-to-wall of psychedelic sonic bliss.
"'Yummy' was one of those special ones for us that came quite quickly in the writing/ recording process," admits Denny, "we didn't think too much about it and let whatever flowed through happen.
"It was so much fun to make so hopefully we've conveyed that through the music."
Although they've released a swag of music, Peach Fur have never filmed their own music video for any of their songs. . . until now – and scenestr is stoked to premiere the 'Yummy' music video today. Enjoy.
The clip leans hard into its disco-funk sounds, evoking plenty of '70s nostalgia. "Although we've been together for a little while now touring and recording, 'Yummy' has been our very first filmed music video," Denny says.
"We were chucked in the deep end a little bit with it; we bloody swam!
"It was so much fun to work with [director/ filmmaker] Dom and the crew; everything ran super smoothly. "Our secret ingredients for the visual creation were beers, margaritas and good people. The green screen of course helped too."
