Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Indie pop-rock sextet Papaya Tree's newest arrival is 'Flowergirl', a love song written about a band member's real-life crush.

"'Flowergirl' is a true story written about Joe (our bass player), his time working in a Newtown bar and the crush that never came to be," band member Lee McDermott says.

"One day during a never-ending shift, a girl came to change the bistro flowers. Before Joe could ask her name she'd left, only knowing her as 'Flowergirl'.

"While being a love song, it is also an escapist anthem about the mundane aspects of life, menial jobs and hope for a future."

scenestr is stoked to premiere the music video for 'Flowergirl' today. Enjoy.

"The video was the vision of a good friend of the band, James Rutkin and his awesome crew the two Rileys!" the bands says.

"Shot in the beautiful Sydney Botanical Gardens staring the even more beautiful Tamara Bailey and our own Joe Plunkett, the clip draws inspiration from Rolling Blackout Coastal Fever and a bit of Flight Of The Conchords."
