Premiere: Watch One More Weekend's New Music Video 'Colourful Things'

One More Weekend's new single is titled 'Colourful Things'.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Fun, vibrant, upbeat indie pop-rock that has all the fun feels, Melbourne band One More Weekend's second single of 2021, 'Colourful Things', also offers a sobering message about substance abuse.

We've all been at a party where somebody doesn't know how to handle themselves and goes too far, creating socially awkward moments that are easily avoided if they knew when to call it a night.

The band wants 'Colourful Things' to act as a sort of beacon for people to look after their mates if they see them abusing substances.

They've created a music video for the song that follows a protagonist at a party who doesn't know their own limits and blacks out, only to return to the party when they wake to create more of a mess despite being locked out (multiple times).

"With the music video for 'Colourful Things', we wanted to capture the reality of social substance use by showing both the fun side and the dangerous side," lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist Connor Dougan says.

scenestr is stoked to premiere the 'Colourful Things' music video today. Enjoy.

"The video highlights how safe amounts of substance use can be fun yet also has the direct comparison to show how easy it is for it to get out of hand, become dangerous and then affect the person and those around them," adds Connor.

"Alongside the release of the music video we want to highlight how important it is to keep an eye out for your mates at a party and to speak up and offer help when you think someone is going too far."

One More Weekend play The Tote (Melbourne) 31 July.
