A WA-based musician-producer who has teamed with one of the best rhythm sections in the land – bassist Jon Stockman and drummer Steve Judd of Perth's all-time biggest heavy act, Karnivool – Nocturnal spotlights teenage love through an '80s lens on his newest release.
The project of Louis Rendle-O'Shea, 'Cold Hearts' will feature on Nocturnal's next EP 'HEARTATTACK' – it's a track hopeless romantics will find solitude within.Melancholic, distant synths and stylish electronic-sounding drums merge, flecked with youthful hope, creating a richly nostalgic, '80s synythpop sound that captures the innocence of high school love while embracing the all-too-frequent heartache that comes with navigating teenage romance.
Louis' anguished yet cool vocals add the right mix of longing and exuberance, like the angel on your shoulder building your self-confidence despite the devil mercilessly shrugging his shoulders with a scornful stare.
"This song is like a glimpse into my late teenage years," Louis shares. "Figuring things out while not really having any clue and the heartbreak that can come with putting yourself out there."

Another excellent example of the artist's proficiency as a producer and recording artist, 'Cold Hearts' was created in Nocturnal's home studio, before being mixed by Dave Parkin at Blackbird Studios, followed by a mastering session with Simon Struthers at Forensic Audio.
"From a production and songwriting point of view, I was definitely going for a high school '80s vibe with 'Cold Hearts'," Louis says.
"When you go into a writing session with a certain idea of what you want it to be, it can sometimes turn out a bit forced but I am certainly happy with the overall vibe of this one."
