The intrinsic power of community and finding your people is at the heart of Michael Franti & Spearhead's newest music video, the buoyant and catchy 'Lost But Not Alone'.

A globally recognised musician, activist and filmmaker who harnesses the energy of positivity with all his endeavours, 'Lost But Not Alone' is peak Michael Franti, a song beaming with a sonic brightness that's lifted from Spearhead's recently released album 'Big Big Love'.

Originally written on ukulele after a dream resonated deeply with Michael, 'Lost But Not Alone' sounds like the manifestation of joy, an epically gorgeous, somewhat quirky yet definitely funky melody that bops along with an unfettered enthusiasm that is both spontaneous and infectious.

The reggae-rootsy, soul-rock groove will burrow deep into your psyche, the dopamine feels contagious as you find your arms and legs moving in unison creating your own, unique happy dance as the refrain 'I am lost, but not alone' builds an inner confidence and serves as a reminder that your people are always waiting for you.

"It's a song that's all about the feeling I get sometimes of being totally lost, like nothing in my life or in the world seems to make any sense," shares Michael.

"Then I go out into the world and I meet people who tell me they feel the exact same way and I realise, that although I may feel completely lost, I am never alone. Neither are you."

Ahead of the music video's release tomorrow (14 March), scenestr is stoked to premiere the 'Lost But Not Alone' clip today. Enjoy.

Directed and edited by Michael, footage for the clip was filmed in and around Michael's home in Bali including Soulshine Bali Hotel, which he owns, as well as last year's Bluesfest (an event no other artist has performed at more often than Michael).

"This song means a lot to me because it's an expression of both how much isolation I feel at times when I look out into the world today and how much hope I feel knowing that I'm not alone in that feeling."

Set to embark on a massive 60-date American summer tour, another Michael Franti Australian tour is in the works planned for later this year or in 2025.

"If there's one thing I learned during the pandemic years, it is the difference between solitude and loneliness," offers Michael. "Solitude is when you're by yourself because you wanna be and loneliness is when you're by yourself and you don't wanna be.

"Sometimes those lines get blurred for me and I find myself longing for connection when I've chosen to be alone, and other times I find myself feeling lonely even in large groups of people. There's a lot to unpack there."
