With the past decade or so spent behind the drum kit in various bands, Matt Turner recently released his first work, 'Wander', as an alternative singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
'Wander' is a slower track, one that focusses on the past 12 months of reflection in Matt's life. "Choice is a funny thing," begins Matt.
"When I wrote this song I was in a place where a big chapter in life was ending and in the uncertainty of 'what now?' I experienced this sense of being completely directionless, an absence of choice created by too many choices. The irony was not lost on me.
"Amid that time I overheard a line from a Tolkien poem: 'Not all those who wander are lost', and the song almost wrote itself after that."
scenestr is proud to premiere the official video for 'Wander' today, which was filmed in Murwillumbah in northern NSW and Brisbane, and features Matt on a journey with his trusty guitar.
Matt picks up the story about making the video clip. "I was introduced to Alejo through a mutual friend who recommended we meet up after she shared my music with him.
"He recently travelled here from Colombia to work, advance his English skills and explore Australia. In his own country, Alejo is quite renowned for his music videos and film work, something he's planning to expand on here as well.

"Following a quick Skype call we arranged to meet, so after a radio interview at 4ZZZ in Brisbane, we met up around Brunswick St, got down to talking and we just hit it off.
"The man practically exudes passion for his craft in every word and he straight away understood the song and what I was trying to achieve with it.
"We started off with some pretty big ideas. Alejo is as much a dreamer as I am, put two of us in a room together with some finger food, that was bound to happen. In the end though, with time constraints and schedule clashes reality set in so we scaled back to something we could put together quickly.
"After a little scouting we decided to film close to my current locale in Murwillumbah, a town I've spent the last few years wandering around and also in Brisbane, a place where I put down some of my first roots as a musician many moons ago. The concept was pretty simple and we had a blast bringing it all together.
"Also, Alejo and lighting – he loves the epic vibes created when the sun's on the horizon; so we captured the last scene of the video with the last four minutes of light before it set over the mountains; it looks so good I'm almost in the way!"
