Fresh off dropping his debut EP, titled 'Stuck In Orbit', at the weekend, Australian R&B, pop crooner Mars has created a music video for the opening track of the EP, 'Her Voice'.
Inspired by music that appeared in the Little Mermaid musical, 'Her Voice' showcases Mars' emerging contemporary R&B sensibilities that are bursting with heart-felt romantic vibes. Not to mention the chills-invoking piano played throughout.scenestr is stoked to premiere the 'Her Voice' music video today. Enjoy.
"The song 'Her Voice' was inspired by Prince Eric's song in 'The Little Mermaid The musical', 'Her Voice'," Mars says.
"I thought I'd write about something similar, but give it a real romanticised and kind of realistic feel to it but also have the contemporary R&B feel to it just give it that throwback vibe.
"The music video filming was pretty cool. It was the first time I have ever been so passionate about filming one and I wanted to try and have the same old vibe as you'd see in 'With You' by Chris Brown.
"I was very thankful to Tara Sandhu for starring in my music video; she was amazing and very serious about her work but also knew how to have a fun time.
"Also thanks to Bailey Hay for directing everything and giving his input to try and see my vision, and most importantly my wonderful girlfriend Hollie Porter who was behind the camera taking all the shots for me.
"Each person had their own individual task and all of them outperformed better than I thought they would for a budget music video, but in the end it turned out just how I wanted it to."
The 'Stuck In Orbit' EP features 'Her Voice' as well as three other tracks: 'Like You Say', 'Text Messages' and 'Knew Me'.
"For the ideas and how everything was directed," adds Mars, "if I'm being honest, about 90 per cent was improvised and I thought it would be a much better way to have it like that; everything ran smoothly and time schedules did not clash so again we got the result we all wanted to get."
