Sunshine Coast singer-songwriter, Lucy Gallant’s latest release is 'War', yet there is something deeply serene at its foundation.
Never shying away from raw emotion, the multi-talented star (with a voice similar to Lana Del Rey) gives a vulnerable performance as a woman whose fiancé has been sent to battle. They made plans to marry upon his return, until false news of his death reaches her. Gallant’s character becomes so riddled with sadness that she jumps to her own demise.

"'War' was recorded and produced by Murray Burns at 301 studios Byron Bay," Lucy says. "The video was filmed and directed by Camila Girardelli in Valence, France. It was shot in the medieval streets and the ruins of a castle on the top of a mountain called Château de Crusso.
"The song and video are about the pain and longing people go through waiting for their loved ones to come home from war."
Following the success of her recent singles and music videos for 'Freaky' and 'Fire Girl', owner and director of Byron Bay Bluesfest, Peter Noble, passionately proclaims Gallant’s rise to fame as an inevitable event. After a double doozy of highly acclaimed performances at this year's Bluesfest, the globetrotting songstress is now preparing for her next big concert at Glastonbury this month.
"I'm off to play Glastonbury Festival again this year. The last time was in 2015 with my band Free Like Me, which was one of my favourite moments on this planet. The buzz in the air, the stage and lights, the people in the crowd were going off to us. It was exhilarating!
"This time I will be taking the big stage solo as Lucy Gallant. I am very nervous and also extremely excited to be going it alone. I feel a sense of freedom to express who I truly am as an artist raw and stripped back, no bells and whistles, nowhere to hide. I am ready to bare my soul."
Not content to sit still, Lucy will tour Europe after her Glastonbury appearance followed by tours of Mexico and Japan before an Australian east-coast tour in November. "I will also be recording and producing my next album that will come out early next year," Lucy says.
"So I have a very busy time ahead of me. I'm so thankful that I am able to travel the world doing I love the most music."
