Byron Bay singer-songwriter Kyle Lionhart has today released his new album 'The Silence Of You', a collection of songs he says are deeply personal.
"There wasn't a day that I didn't cry in the studio singing these songs, and I was like, 'Well, I think that's where you have to go to to really portray the emotion in the songs' – but that's how hurtful they are, too."The roots, folk, indie rock musician explains that the writing process for 'The Silence Of You', aside from one track, was completed entirely during the pandemic.
The shutdown of the music industry and world in general allowed Kyle to continue an inner conversation he'd started the year before.
"After touring relentlessly for more than six years, I hit a point towards the end of 2019 when I realised every other facet of my life was falling apart, the neglect of the relationships with the ones I loved and myself was taking its toll.
"When I had to stop touring – because the pandemic forced me to – I realised everything was so turbulent, and I had to start working on myself and my relationships."
This included writing his very first love song, 'Babe, It's Just You And I' – a duet with Moreton.
With just a simple yet delicate finger-picking guitar riff as the song's backbone married to Kyle's earthy, cozy voice alongside harmonised vocals with indie darling Moreton, 'Babe, It's Just You And I' is a mellow and snuggly sentimental adventure that'll leave romantics everywhere feeling gooey inside.
"Funnily enough, 'Babe, It's Just You And I' is my first-ever love song – even though I've been in a relationship for 18 years and have two children!" admits Lionhart.
"All I did was build a song from some really pivotal points out of mine and my partner's 18-year relationship."

"I do wanna thank all my fans that submitted their clips, it absolutely made for one of my favourite music videos ever.
"It is special having my partner Annabelle feature in this as it's the first proper love song I've written, and just wouldn't feel right making a clip celebrating love without the woman I wrote the song about."
