Melbourne/ Naarm-based artist Kat Greta's newest release, the single 'Set You Up', fosters a sonic sense of community and connection.

Produced as a rallying cry, it was created 'to be felt in the body as much as in the heart'.

Indietronica folk with rock-pop tones, the song's flavoursome energy builds with a spirited groove encompassing layered percussion of clapping sticks and drums married to exotic call-and-response chants that add a worldly touch.

The electronic soundscape that bubbles gently just below the surface throughout, mid-track it's spotlighted beautifully encapsulating the song's enchanting mood.

'Set You Up' vibrates with a sense of connection, the rhythm offering an inclusivity that's hard to ignore as you hum the beat subconsciously. "I've really been connecting through rhythm and percussion lately, and I wanted to bring that into my music," shares Kat.

"'Set You Up' is a bit of an introduction to that – it's where I'm starting, and the EP will continue with that same rhythmic energy."

Ahead of the song's release tomorrow (2 May), today scenestr is delighted to premiere the 'Set You Up' music video, which is a family affair.

"The video reflects how music and movement connect us all in a simple, honest way, and I hope it resonates with others like it has with me."

Kat teamed up with director Dayne Edward for the music video. Filmed entirely via Zoom, the video captures Kat and her loved ones drumming together from afar, proving that distance is no match for rhythm when connection is the goal.

"Having my family involved made it even more meaningful, showing that music is something we share, no matter the distance."

On Saturday (3 May), Kat will launch 'Set You Up' with a mid-afternoon performance at Kindred Art Space in Frankston, a vibrant, percussion-packed event that will bring the track's communal spirit to life.

The song is also a taste of Greta's new EP, which is slated for release in the second half of 2025. "I've really been connecting through rhythm and percussion, so I wanted to bring that into my music," Kat says.

"'Set You Up' is just the start, and the EP will carry that same vibe. I love how people come up and join me onstage, shaking maracas and tambourines – it's all about the connection, and the video reflects that same energy."
