A cleaner sounding (ie. less howling feedback) The Morning After Girls, with strong hints of The Temper Trap, Placebo and Muse, Have/Hold's brand of indie rock straddles hardcore elements with soaring vocals. This is rock to lose yourself in or let loose on the floorboards like Tom Cruise in 'Risky Business'.
The Melbourne rockers are on the verge of releasing their new album, 'We Are A Ghost Now, You & I', next week (26 October) - and today, they are sharing exclusively with scenestr the video clip for one of the album's tracks, 'Dear Sun'.
"'Dear Sun' was a strange song to write. It started off really easy and straightforward," vocalist-guitarist Luke Shields says, "but we just couldn't figure out what its purpose was or how to end it.
"The song is a letter to a home that doesn't exist anymore. It's about making the bold, sudden, irreversible decision to leave your world behind.
"When we reflected on that idea it became clear the second half needed to represent the various lingering feelings you have after making that kind of decision.
"When we were brainstorming ideas with Shaina (the director), we initially had all these grand ideas until Shaina suggested making it feel a little bit more organic with no cheesy acting or literalist bullsh.t storyline," Luke adds.
"'Dear Sun' is such a dramatic, tense song so we were stoked that Shaina was committed to making something that is both visually pleasing yet keeps the song itself as the main focus of the clip.
"She shot the clip in three hours at the Brunswick Mechanics Theatre, which is where we'll be hosting our album launch on 3 November."
The band will also be heading out on a national tour in January with dates in Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Launceston, Brisbane, Wollongong, Newcastle and Canberra. "We've played 'Dear Sun' live a handful of times now and can't wait to take it on tour in January."
