Sydney-based surf-rock group Forest Hall will release their newest offering, 'Broke Forever', tomorrow (26 October).
The band have created an accompanying music video featuring the edgy comedic talents of internet sensation Friendlyjordies as he undertakes various activities of 'youthly [sic] nature which ties into the theme of the song itself'.
Upbeat despite the lo-fi nature, 'Broke Forever' is an infectiously jangly chapter of indie rock that will become your new earworm. You can hear why they've been compared to QOTSA and Wavves.
"The song basically expresses how we in the band had all felt at a particular time in our lives, particularly in the not too distant past," the group's singer Mislav Belobrajdic says.
"Basically that reality of being a perpetually broke bastard, all the fault of our own, but also, while hating that reality, in a weird way embracing it and just enjoying the opportunity to enjoy the day - to enjoy the moment."
scenestr is thrilled to premiere the 'Broke Forever' video today for your eyeballs viewing pleasure. Though we don't condone all the activities Freindlyjordies undertakes.
"We are good friends with Jordan and I went went to high school with him," adds Mislav, "so when we wanted a video about accepting one's faults and just enjoying the ride so to speak we naturally put Jordan in Swedish death metal corpse paint and made him do weights and masturbate in a garden.
"The video is supposed to be an escape - who cares what BS life is throwing at you… He killed it. We filmed for a few hours and spent the rest of the day eating Greek yoghurt and playing 'Super Mario'."
