Brisbane's garage-folk songstress, Emma Bosworth is back with a new song, 'Oh Man', that she recorded as part of her own Wild Mountain Songs project.
Curated once a year by Emma in the Rathdowney Hinterland in the Gold Coast Hinterland, the project was formed with community, the natural environment and artistic creation equally at heart.
'Oh Man' features producer on the rise and her long-term friend Alex Henrikkson. The song shines with an '80s Aussie indie-pop sheen that generates massive nostalgia feels. It's almost as if the song is playing on a cassette tape.
"When you are writing on the mountain, you are usually deep in the forest, away from your devices, and other people," begins Emma.
"It offers a rare glimpse into someone's psyche and provides you with a great opportunity to connect. "I've known Alex for about ten years, but have never had the opportunity to write with him, or never found the time.
"We soon got talking about the pace of today's society in the city. The lost traditions, climate change, dinner times, older generations, the family unit. We wondered if we were born into the wrong era, we both valued or were chasing a more slow and creative pace.
"The lyrical line 'oh man' is the reflection of the craziness of the man. As a race, we are making our planet inhabitable and have somehow created a way of living which is destroying our creativity and health and freedom."
Ahead of the song's video clip being released tomorrow (18 October), Emma has given scenestr the green light to offer an exclusive premiere for you dear reader. It's Friday arvo a day early!
"The high diver in this video is a total piss-take on this idea," continues Emma. "Attention seeking, daring, brave, lone ranger. We're a weird bunch."
