Melbourne hip hop artist Eloquor's latest joint is the butter-smooth 'No Rush'.
Lush, golden vibes emanate from the dusty drum snares and trip-hop flavoured beat that glistens with a chilled energy.Eloquor's flow hits all the marks as he carries you along on a wave of introspective positivity rapping about the different stages of one's life journey and making sure you leave space to lean into your inner being: "Kick it like Sherrins, tight into heaven / Take a walk with my dog, a spliff and a scotch."
This is hip hop the '90s heads will relate to, while it retains that modern sheen with production values that create a clean yet vibrant soundscape.
"I wanted to write a track to remind people to slow down and enjoy the moment," shares Eloquor. "To enjoy those little things that matter, like walking your dog or enjoying an ice cream by the beach."
The video clip brings Eloquor's ruminations to life led by Sunnie, Eloquor's adorable doggo who steals the show throughout. scenestr is super stoked to premiere Eloquor's 'No Rush' music video. Enjoy.
"I met the videographer Flynn at my local gym; we got talking about hip hop and camera gear, and found out he made killer music videos. So we got to work."
'No Rush' is the first single to be lifted from Eloquor's fifth LP that's slated for release late 2023. "I made about ten average beats before these little gem came to life. Sometimes it takes a minute to make something you love.
"I produced the beat in a hotel room during COVID lockdown. It wasn't a great time but making music kept me sane, I guess [the beat] allowed me to escape that room."
The next step was a studio collaboration. "Dom Cork recorded and mixed the beat and track, and really brought it to life. It amazing how much a little magic from a dope engineer can do."
Next week Eloquor will head to the Red Centre to perform a show with Reason and Dan The Underdog at Gap View Hotel (9 April).
Then, with Reason and Class A, Eloquor will host a week-long worksop for youth at The Gap - Youth and Community Centre in Alice Springs. "We will build beats, record raps/ vocals and shoot a music video clip."
While work continues on his new album, Eloquor is staying busy with other projects. "I've also been working on an EP with my friend SevenSicks, whom used to own Stronghorn Studios. We'll be releasing that this year also. It's gonna be busy year!"
