Australian singer-songwriter, Ella Hartwig's newest single is the infectiously energetic country bop 'Western Star'.

Originally from Far North Queensland and currently based in Brisbane, Ella's earthy, powerful, robust voice instantly captures your attention, the Melissa Etheridge feels surging like a storm-ravaged river.

When the song's melody kicks in Ella's pop sensibilities flourish, the already zesty song brightening the senses, the fusion of twangy guitar and a pulsating rhythm section creating a merriment that bustles along like a buoyant dog on the hunt for interesting smells.

'Western Star' is a song most Australians will relate to, with Ella lyrically capturing the essence of the open road that offers ceaseless possibilities to explore the natural wonderment this country has.

"I was driving along somewhere on the A1 Highway and a Western Star truck pulled up next to me," shares Ella, detailing the inspiration behind the track that's about letting go – either to go on a travel adventure or relinquishing negative self-thoughts.

"The line 'travelling next to a Western Star' came to me, and I wrote the song that night in a hotel room."

Released last month, today scenestr is thrilled to premiere the music video for 'Western Star'. Enjoy.

'Western Star' follows Ella's previous 2023 single 'Out Of Stone', another track showcasing her impressive songwriting ability and highlighting her as a country-folk artist to watch in the coming years.

"The 'Western Star' film clip was super fun to make and it's my second video working with Callum Johnston," Ella says.

"We've been building a great professional relationship over the past year, with Callum photographing every live show and now moving into the film clips.

"Part of the fun with the video was driving up north of Brisbane to capture some of the scenery reminiscent of my home in Far North Queensland. I loved gathering all my friends at my home and filming the campfire scene in our backyard! It gives a sense of community and reminds me of home."
