Brisbane blues and roots act Dave Orr Band return with a new single, 'Diamonds On My Dummy' (the next taste of the new Dave Orr Band album due out next year) ahead of dates at Woodford Folk Festival.
The new track, which has a ripper funk-drench groove married to bluesy-jazz licks, looks at the current trend of Instagram influencers.
"There ain't no privacy or prying, I'm taken' pictures on my phone while I'm driven', I'm living every fantasy you keep denying, so come a clicking' on my dreams you can buy in," Dave sings on the track.
"This new Meters-style groove instalment by Dave Orr Band reflects on the Insta world of a rising star; perception is the key to his growing followers and like count," Dave says.
"He wants you to know that your life basically sucks balls compared to his, so click away with envy. What he doesn't want you to know is that his mum still washes his clothes and all the bikini girls on his Instagram are paid to be there."
To celebrate the song's release, scenestr is stoked to premiere the accompanying lyric video for 'Diamonds On My Dummy'. Enjoy.
"The rhythm section really shines on this track with Mark Henman (drums) and AJ Hall (bass) laying it down," Dave adds. "Also featured is James Sandon (sax) and Nathan Seiler (organ).
"'Diamonds On My Dummy' really displays the diversity of this band, comparing it to the last blues shuffle single 'Valley Below', different yet still under the same umbrella of rhythm and blues. With the full album almost out of the oven, this new single is ready for your summer drives; put your windows down and crank 'Diamond On My Dummy'."
Dave Orr Band play four shows at Woodford Folk Festival, which takes place 27 December - 1 January.
