Brisbane pop-rock singer-songwriter Clayton Francis continues to wear his heart on his sleeve, with his newest single 'Best Friend' a sonic ode to intimate lovers.
Since venturing on to a solo path in 2019 – after the demise of his band Until Home – Clayton has released a string of singles, with 'Best Friend' his 11th solo release to date.A track written and dedicated to the moments of flourishing intimacy between two lovers, 'Best Friend' is that catchy ear worm to brighten your mood.
Stylishly smooth, euphoric pop with deep emotive feels, 'Best Friend' is a playful bop that'll tug at the heartstrings equally as burying its melody inside your head to hum along to.
Personally, 'Best Friend' lyrically honours Clayton's wife while dovetailing as a nostalgic ballad for self-proclaimed hopeless romantics.
"This song holds a special place in my heart and has a lot of significance for my wife and I," shares Clayton.
"This song is so special because I wrote it about what it was like at the beginning stages of our relationship and how they're some of my happiest memories together."
Ahead of the song's release tomorrow (18 August), scenestr is thrilled to premiere the 'Best Friend' music video today. Enjoy.
'Best Friend' also allowed Francis to focus his music on an upbeat subject matter, after a number of years processing feelings of sorrow and sadness.
"I wrote this song in 2021 after we had been together for 12 years since we started dating back in high school. At that point I hadn't really written any openly romantic songs about my wife and I's relationship.
"I had been writing a lot about grief and coming to terms with loss after my sister had passed away and the breakup of my band.
"So this song helped me journey through that to another, more happier and romantic side of me as an artist. 'Best Friend' celebrates love and is a love song for all the self-proclaimed hopeless romantics."
