A writer, actor, and musician from Sydney, last week B.C. Taylor released his debut album titled 'Sweetly So We'.
With a sound that skirts around the likes of Dylan, Oasis, and Vedder, B.C.'s musical style sits between ambient folk ballads, alt. country musings and indie rock charmers – and 'Sweetly So We' is brimming with quality servings of all three. "They are a collection, from different moments in my career up until now," B.C. says of the songs that make up 'Sweetly So We'. "They weren't so much written as they were made.
"Some of them feature loops and beats, others just a guitar and some backing instrumentation. The lyrics inform the music, and the music informs the lyrics."
Taylor is also keen to return to the old-school format of listening to entire album's in one setting, rather than the allowing click culture to dictate our attention spans. So he's pieced together a visual album consisting of a continuous flow of clips for each track that he has directed.
scenestr is stoked to premiere it today. So hook it up to your smart TV or turn your phone on its side and enjoy the show – it's a visually stimulating ride.
"We aren't taking enough time with what we make anymore," B.C. says. "Click culture has played into our attention spans as much as our attention spans have played into it.
"This whole album is about taking back that full-work length – stopping and listening to the whole journey. It seemed worthy of some full-length visuals to go with it.
"Music is at its best when it's cinematic. That doesn't necessarily mean super elaborate. Just honest enough to free our imaginations."
