Laden with vivid and stimulating synth samples and an anthemic chorus that ignites a passionate energy, Sydney pop-rockers 51st Avenue latest release is the emotive new single 'I.C.U'.
A full-on, wall of pounding noise melds into a melodic breakdown heralded by the honey-flavoured yet biting vocals of Alynnis Zizza, 'ICU' is 51st Avenue's most personal song yet. "'ICU' is arguably our most personal and emotional track to date," shares Zizza.
"Almost immediately after the band had created and completed the entire instrumental for this track, my husband went down a spiral of health scares, which landed him in the Intensive Care Unit.
"When I wasn't by his side, I couldn't sleep so I found myself listening to the track on repeat and eventually finding ways to express my love and fear for my husband lyrically.
"It served as a way to channel all these really intense emotions. Writing ICU was basically my therapy.”
Ahead of the song's release tomorrow, (2 September), scenestr is thrilled to premiere the 'ICU' music video today. Enjoy.
With their recent signing to artist management agency Hard Drive Agency and a plethora of new material, 51st Avenue are poised to take the next step in their music career.
51st Avenue play Crowbar Sydney 2 September.
