A self-appointed ambassador to the 'space tropics', Melbourne electronic producer Watermelon Boy's quest to bring feel-good music to the masses continues with his newest release 'No Problems'.
A smooth, fresh, sultry beat (think EDM-flavoured R&B) that pops with a summery vibe that hearts sun-kissed ocean views and an escapism mindset, 'No Problems' features a vocal collaboration with Ghanaian artist Bryan The Mensah."This track has a big, open beat that takes cues from Neptunes and club hip hop from that era, but there's plenty of Watermelon Boy, summer time feel to it," Watermelon Boy says. "It's those tuned percussion and fuzzy synth sounds that I love to use.
"I'm always trying to evoke the feeling of a holiday in the tropics. That's my whole thing and Bryan's vocal on this is spot on, it's got a shimmer to it like a calm ocean."
Ahead of the song's release tomorrow (12 August), scenestr is thrilled to premiere 'No Problems' today. Enjoy.
This is not the first time Watermelon Boy and Bryan The Mensah have partnered on a collaboration, having worked together on two tracks that featured on Watermelon Boy's 2021 album, '101 Tropical Hits From Cosmic Space': 'Same Day, Same Thing' and 'Boss It Up'.
"We first collaborated in 2020 on 'Same Day, Same Thing'," shares Watermelon Boy.
"I was in Ghana at the start of that year and had sent Bryan a message about potentially working together. He didn't see that until I was already headed home, but we stayed in touch and have done a string of tracks since then.
"He's prolific actually, his album 'Road To Hastafari' came out on the same day as mine last year, which was a cool coincidence but honestly for the last five years he's just been pumping out high quality tracks non-stop."
