Sydney folk-punk-emo-inspired outfit Vetty Vials And The Sandpit Turtles are back with a new single, 'Say', that showcases a fuller sound that reflects their growth as a live band.
After launching their debut EP, 2017's 'I Am Okay, I Promise', to a sold-out crowd at Glebe’s Record Crate, the past year has seen Vetty and the band travel Australia playing with the likes of Clowns, Press Club, Born Lion and Captives.
Vetty's heartfelt vocals and lyricism on 'Say' tell an emotional story that builds in layers with a sound that fits alongside acts such as Dallas Green and Glen Hansard, but with a heavier twist.
Ahead of the song's release 5 June, the band have shared an exclusive stream of 'Say' for scenestr to premiere today.
"'Say' came together as my response to the frustration of trying to derive meaning from someone's silence," Vetty says.
"It was the first idea I really brought to the band after recording the debut EP and everything just seemed to fall into place as we were putting it together, bringing with it a heavier sound that we had been looking for."
Vetty Vials And The Sandpit Turtles will be launching 'Say' at Sydney's Hideaway Bar in Enmore 9 June with support by Wasters, Ess-Em, Ebolagoldfish and Whispering Jackie.
"Our current plans are to keep touring and start recording our debut album at the back end of the year," Vetty says.
The 'Say' single will be available for stream and purchase everywhere from 5 June.
