Premiere: Stream Vermantics New Single 'Pneumatic'

Vermantics are a Melbourne-based rock band.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Melbourne-based rockers Vermantics' latest release is 'Pneumatic', a high-energy, forceful, four-chord rock & roll number that oozes a lustful attitude.

Originally from South Australia, the four members of Vermantics – brothers Stefan (vocals) and Daniel Fedele (bass), Jack Stevenson (guitar), and Julian Perrotta (drums) – each moved to Melbourne individually in 2021 but soon found themselves jamming, writing their own originals and building a fan base playing small rooms to dedicated 50-capacity audiences.

Brash, bold rock & roll that swaggers with a faux-snarling attitude, crunchy, volatile guitars are joined by a cascading, driving rhythm section that hooks into your hips and doesn't let go till your swaying uncontrollably.

"'Pneumatic' is classic high school alienation, confusion, lust and longing compressed into four chords and spat out as a song with unstoppable rolling momentum," shares the band.

scenestr is stoked to premiere 'Pneumatic'. Enjoy.

"The initial idea of the song came to me in the back of the van on the way to a show in Sydney," explains Jack. "This idea of comparing yourself to the people around you and feeling like you're somehow different to them, alien.

"By the time we'd arrived at our sh.tty motel the bones of the song were safely secured in a voice memo on my phone. When we started working on it back home, it came together very quickly, ready to play live in an afternoon."

A band who have recently supported The Screaming Jets on their 30th anniversary tour and Danish rock legends D-A-D as well as headlining their own, bigger, shows in Melbourne and Adelaide, Vermantics retreated to the comforts of The Base Studios to record 'Pneumatic'.

"'Pneumatic'" was recorded at The Base Studios in South Melbourne (our second home). The vibes are always great.

"We work closely with Phil Threlfall, who's basically another member of the band, that puts up with us acting like kids most of the time. Lots of coffees go down from our favourite cafe ST. ALi all throughout the recording/ tracking process."

Vermantics support Psychic Social Club at Cherry Bar (Melbourne) 7 July and then return to play Black Cherry at Cherry Bar 20 July.
