Premiere: Stream Venice Queens' Debut, Self-Titled EP

Venice Queens have shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide August 2018.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Only forming in September 2017, Adelaide's Venice Queens are already packing out venues across their home town and have added supports of Lime Cordiale and The Creases to their resume.

Venice Queens' brand of rock surfs across groove-based melodies and smooth riffs that will appeal to those who enjoy the likes of Ocean Alley and the aforementioned Lime Cordiale, with a large slice of Sticky Fingers seeping through Venice Queens' sound as well.

The group have released four singles, which make up the track list of their self-titled debut EP that scenestr is happy to premiere today.

"The EP came about pretty gradually. Each song is a single in itself, so the actual process has taken us the best part of a year," the band says.

"'The Strut' is a gritty, grimy perspective on the Adelaide nightlife inspired by our old favourite haunt Supermild (may it RIP) and driven by Jay's killer bassline.

"'Tijuana' is a summer anthem that came out of a single jam in our warehouse, with Sam's lyrics referencing a busker he met in London. While 'Forget Your Mind' is an upbeat track thematically about the serious issues of depression and anxiety - stemming from Anthony's personal experiences."

The band have arranged their first tour of the east coast with multiple lined up in Sydney and Melbourne this winter. "Touring interstate in support of our latest single 'Bad Heart' will be an exciting first for all of us," the band says.

"We're really keen to get back onstage after a couple of months of writing and our setlist has been beefed up in a big way, so there's definitely a few surprises in store.

"More than anything, though, we're excited about playing in new venues, for fresh faces and travelling together doing what we love."
