Sydney-based pop princess turned bass badass, Sypress is about to unleash her new single, 'Bother Me'.
Drawing inspiration from Kaskade's euphoric sounds, 'Bother Me' is the second tech house banger from her debut EP (of the same name) that is due in June."I love the dynamics in this tune, the production is very minimal and deep with a lot of build-up into a super-uplifting hook," Sypress aka Isy Piper says of 'Bother Me'.
"Lyrically, I'm singing to a man that just doesn't know what kinda ride he is jumping on with me. It will most likely drive him to insanity, but I guarantee it will be fun."
A childhood that saw her grow up on her family's 60-ft yacht until she was 16, Sypress studied audio engineering at SAE Byron; then last year she made the decision to base herself in Sydney.
Since then, she's supported the likes of G Flip, Winston Surfshirt and Bag Raiders.
With 'Bother Me' released tomorrow, scenestr is stoked to premiere Sypress' new single today. Enjoy.
"'Bother Me' was born in the studio of Aaron Bannie [NightTales and Third Floor]," adds Sypress.
"I gave him some reference tracks of some production I really liked and when I came into the studio he was like 'so I started making this tune, I almost wanted to keep it for myself but you inspired it so let's use it for you EP if you like it'.
"I heard the intro synth and was sold, haha! Then my best friend FOSTYR and I spent the afternoon writing a demo vocal together.
"Jesse aka FOSTYR unfortunately passed away a few months after we wrote this song and it makes this song even more special to me.
"Every time I hear it, I remember us spending hours laughing and messing around in my home studio recording the demo. Rest in peace angel."
Sypress plays Botanica Bar (Hobart) 2 April.
