Normal Life
Opening the EP, ‘Normal Life’ presents the introspective and melancholy depths of human emotion, contemplating the ephemerality of passion, heartache and happiness, through a soundscape of cascading polymetric guitars, cold synths and steadfast basslines. The Train
‘The Train’ explores the incessant, enveloping and destructive nature of spiralling anxious thoughts, as the rhythmic interplay between the cyclic drums, abrasive guitars and reverb-drenched synthesisers emulates a perpetually escalating train, rolling on.Optimist
With soaring synths and jangly guitars on top of vigorous basslines and thunderous drums, ‘Optimist’ echoes our post-punk and indie rock influences to convey the cathartic joy of acknowledging life’s emotional turmoil, and growing through it.Unjust Jeans (And Guillotines)
Blending driving post-punk basslines, glistening synths and nostalgic jangle-rock guitars, 'Unjust Jeans (And Guillotines)' explores the bleak reality of worker exploitation and corporate greed under late-stage capitalism, while encouraging solidarity and hope within the hopelessness.A Scene Of Yesterday
‘A Scene Of Yesterday’ explores the nostalgic but bittersweet beauty of accepting one can no longer live in memories, while still longing for their sense of warmth and tranquillity once again, showcasing our new, tighter and more focused sound with its dream-like mix of floating leads and crystalline synths with sharp guitars and visceral drum grooves.Staples launch ‘Everything Will Be Okay’ at Black Bear Lodge (Brisbane) 16 December.
