Perth-based indie pop-soul artist Stacey Ann is nearing the release of her debut EP, 'A Change In The Wind' (due next month), teasing that project with the single 'Ripples'.

A quirky yet merry keyboard-trumpet combo opens the song leading into a breezy, sunny, almost jovial melody that underpins 'Ripples', a song bathed in positivity.

Stacey's uplifting, gracious vocals provide a comforting spirit that builds as the rhythm section lays a foundation of rich textures highlighted by a lead guitar that maintains a lilting yet nostalgic tempo.

"I was inspired to write this song by the people around me who made me see how important it is to surround yourself with positive people and how when this happens, it creates ripple effects in other areas of your life, too," Stacey says, who has supported Ghost Care, Joan & The Giants and Dulcie.

Ahead of the song's release tomorrow (8 February), scenestr is thrilled to premiere 'Ripples' today. Enjoy.

Inspired by the positive impact of surrounding oneself with supportive, uplifting friends, 'Ripples' explores why nurturing those loving and unconditional friendships is so important.

"'Ripples' is about acknowledging how powerful friendships can be when you find the right people," Stacey says. "This song holds a place of gratitude for the loving, strong and unconditional friendships that surround me, and remind me how important it is to foster and nurture these friendships."

A resume that includes 2023 festival appearances at Nannup Music Festival and RTRFM Winter Music Fest, Stacey Ann's style easily fits into similar sonic territory to Meg Mac and Gretta Ray.

"Lyrically," continues Stacey, "this song emphasises how friendships can pull you out of the water when you feel like you're drowning, but can also fill your cup when you can be there for them too and watch them thrive.

"I wanted it to be a song that resonated with a lot of people and, in this, act as a reminder that we can often underestimate how far our good friendships can take us when times are tough."

Stacey Ann's debut EP 'A Change In The Wind' is released 14 March.
