Pounding drums and guitar licks lifted directly from the '90s open Smoking Martha's newest single 'Good Girls', before the sultry, fiery vocals of Tasha D catapult the track into full rock-out mode – think No Doubt meets Hole.
"'Good Girls' is the fun, energetic, poppy side of our music," the Brisbane band says."We have a fast punk background, so there will always be that component within our music. It's a playful take on always being at war with ourselves."
Ahead of the song's release on Wednesday (30 June), scenestr is amped to premiere 'Good Girls' today. Enjoy.
Recorded with longtime collaborator, engineer Matt Bartlem at Studio Circuit in Brisbane, 'Good Girls' heralds the next cycle of new music from Smoking Martha with more to be revealed in the coming months.
First, the band have a run of Brisbane shows including Aftermath Festival and Halloween Hysteria. "We can't wait to get back on the road again! Our last tour was four weeks through the UK, which blew our minds.
"It really gave us a whole new appreciation for our art and we were lucky to have done it before the world went crazy. Now that it's slowly on the mend, we look forward to the wild times ahead."
