A sound that traverses the outskirts of twangy country with the melodic, cruisy instrumentation of '80s AM radio rock, Sir Archer's new single is titled 'Just A Taste'.
Add contemplative and reflective songwriting plus a searing guitar solo in the second half and the seven-piece alt-rock band from Sydney have created a track awash with personality as well as piercing harmonies.'Just A Taste' also marks the group's first release recorded at their newly opened studio, Six10 Studios, that's owned and operated by Sir Archer members James and Rick.
"This track is essentially the result of a 'jam'," begins the band, "figuring out some ideas with all of us together in a room and then refining it through multiple sessions.
"The majority of the writing process happened at some poor lady's property we booked on Airbnb for four nights and converted into a makeshift studio/ creative den."
Ahead of the song's release tomorrow (22 April), scenestr is amped to premiere 'Just A Taste' today. Enjoy.
"The band came together after a forced group chat created by Luke, basically combining a bunch of his mates that he thought could create something special," Sir Archer says.
"Without any expectation, everyone jumped into a room, had a play/ jam, and have been doing it ever since."
For 'Just A Taste', Sir Archer added an extra member to proceedings.
"Everything was recorded in-house, with the addition of our friend and producer, Mr Jackson Barclay (Vera Blue, Wanderers, Woodlock, Winterbourne). Jackson also mixed the single.
"Using our own space for this recording has been a breath of fresh air. Six10 Studios is our 'home base'.
"It felt very relaxed and controlled, which enabled us to dive a little deeper without time constraints or pressures.
"We were able to take our time and feel a little more 'at home' during the recording, which can be a daunting experience."
Sir Archer launch 'Just A Taste' at Waywards (Sydney) 30 April with Wanderers and Aria Woods.
