Melbourne indie rockers Psychic Social Club's newest release is the single 'We Don't Talk', a track about honouring old friendships and lost connections.
Anthemic, sweeping rock & roll that blazes with angular riffs and spacious melodies plus an emotive yet tight rhythm section that combine to create an urgency to the music that thrusts 'We Don't Talk' into instant sing-along territory. The nasally cathartic, passionate vocals sit somewhere between Eskimo Joe's Kav Temperley and Spacey Jane's Caleb Harper, the lyrical themes cutting through to remind us all life is a journey and that some relationships while only lasting for a short period still have a major impact on our outlook on life.
"'We Don't Talk' is basically a reflection on where I am in my life and the people that have been there for me," frontman Jared Roscioli says.
Adds drummer Luke Bratchford: "Bit of context about this one; 'We Don't Talk' is a very special one for us, and it has come a long way.
"If you've been to one of our shows in the last year you will have heard it but probably played two very different ways.
"What's emerged after scaling this one right back is something more anthemic, more cathartic and definitely tickled the itch of my inner emo child at heart.
"It's a wall of guitars and drums that should only be played loud and shouted along to with the windows down. Hope you dig."
Ahead of the song's release tomorrow, scenestr is stoked to premiere 'We Don't Talk' today. Enjoy.
"Growing up in Queensland, I developed relationships with people which eventually dissipated after my move to Melbourne at 17," adds Jared sharing more details about the song's evolution.
"These relationships were significant in moulding me into the person I am today but looking back, it's clear that my goals and priorities changed as I got older.
"Eventually this made me lose connection with people that I was once very close with. Ultimately, 'We Don't Talk' is a cathartic recollection and shout out to old friends."
