Sydney singer-songwriter, NedR is starting 2023 strong with his first release of new music in more than 12 months.
The laidback, soulful troubadour who deals in sonically warm folk, entrancing soul, and indie pop that hits all the feels, NedR's newest release is titled 'Stood Here Too', a song he's cheekily kept under wraps for a year or so.Poignant, classy, and sophisticated folk-soul songwriting that's also achingly raw, the song's instrumentation glistens with a radiant hope as NedR sings about holding onto memories despite their tendency to fade over time.
Don't sleep on the guitar picking either that's drizzled in emotion; each pluck of the strings fosters a drenching of nostalgia-flavoured feels, as NedR's honey-coated vocals carry the weight of lost intimacy drawing you even deeper into his sonic landscape.
"It feels like a huge weight off my chest," shares NedR. "This song has been ready for a year now, and I'm exited to show everyone 'cause I feel like I've finally found my sound with this track."
Ahead of the song's release on Monday (23 January), scenestr is thrilled to premiere 'Stood Here Too' today. Enjoy.
'Stood Here Too' came to life during a writing session NedR had with Dominik Dale, the song fully realised after winning Fender’s Players Plus competition.
"'Stood Here Too' was inspired by a mate who was in the midst of packing up her late grandfather's house. It talks about the memories that are attached to said place and the hope of seeing him again someday.
"I wrote this song with Dominik Dale who wrote and made the first initial demo with me and also mastered the final track.
"Through winning the Fender Players Plus competition, in collaboration with Studios 301, I got to work with Jesse Deskovic who recorded and mixed the track. And my drummer Matthew Ferguson who really enhanced the groove of this song."
With two live shows (Wollongong and Sydney) already lined up for later in the year (June), NedR is ready for a busy 2023 bringing his music to new fans far and wide.
