Australian musician Morgan Joanel has already achieved more than your average indie artist.
Tour supports with the likes of Adam Lambert and Jason Derulo, while Anne-Marie spotted Morgan at a small bar in Perth in 2019 and was asked by Anne-Marie to join the next leg of her international tour.
Morgan has also lived the major label lifestyle with Sony alongside the daily grind of indie existence.
Her own life was almost taken in 2021 after a hit-and-run driver left Joanel with 13 broken bones, a brain bleed, and wheelchair-bound (something she was told could become permanent).
With a steely resolve to overcome, a prolonged period of recovery has seen Morgan slowly return to full life as well as rebirthing her love of music.
Last year she opened for the likes of Pete Murray and The Superjesus, before shows earlier this year with Rob Mills and Josh Pyke.
Now backed by a band with international experience, Morgan is leaning into her 'if Stevie Nicks and Jim Morrison ever had a lovechild' era with new music that's led by the single 'Undone'.
Gritty, with a sensual bluesy electric guitar riff that evokes all the feels, the bruised, rigid drumming anchors a rhythm that oozes a country-rock juiciness that veers closer to Newcastle than Tamworth, but definitely needs a saddle to ride.
Morgan's vocals add an unyielding quality. . . resolute with a piercing emotive essence that conveys the song's emotion.
Add those sultry yelps alongside the pounding drumming that's in constant motion, this is blues-laced rock & roll with a bohemian-flavoured side dish of Americana that demands repeat listens.
Ahead of the song's release tomorrow (9 April), today scenestr is delighted to premiere 'Undone'. Enjoy.
"I was playing this song for years acoustically and had tried to record it lots of different ways with different band line-ups and producers, and it never captured what I wanted," Morgan says.
"Just a few days before we hit the studio I was jamming with a friend and we landed on this vibe and even though it was a different feel from how I'd been playing it for years, it hit the nerve and I knew instantly this is what 'Undone' had always wanted to be.
"So we recorded the whole thing in a day and I feel it's finally been captured how it was always meant to be. The muse can be fickle like that, just the right time and place and she comes through perfectly clear, but you have to be ready to catch it."
This weekend, Morgan joins Newton Faulkner as the main support act on his Australian tour (except Adelaide).
"My influences are an eclectic mixture of The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, The Doors, Dire Straits and Michael Jackson," adds Joanel.
"Somehow it all comes together as bit of a Fleetwood Mac meets Florence and The Machine vibe of bohemian rock & roll."
Music is just one aspect of Morgan's creative arsenal. As a fashion designer, her collections have been stocked in over 200 boutiques as well as Myer. While her jewellery has adorned models and celebrities alike.
