A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Central Queensland, Lewis McKee has been entertaining crowds the past decade or so with a range of country, blues and pop covers.
Lewis has also been crafting his own collection of original material along the way, and the fruits of those labours will be realised tomorrow (18 February) when Lewis releases his debut single, 'Into My Soul'.A ripping song that barrels along at a heady pace, skirting country-rock that hearts '50s-'60s country-soul with a healthy serving of twangy guitar and honest, earthy vocals, 'Into My Soul' was written after Lewis experienced a one-off romantic adventure in Brisbane.
"I wrote this song after a big night out with mates traversing the brown snake (aka Brisbane CBD)," he shares.
"I met a lady that; honestly, if Brisbane had some Vegas-style marriage celebrants we probably would have ended up hitched that night.
"Never saw her again. Didn't get a number and to this day (embarrassingly) I can't remember her name. Anyway, I'm grateful for the fun-filled night that we had, and for the lyrics that emerged thereafter."
Ahead of its release, scenestr is thrilled to premiere 'Into My Soul' today. Enjoy.
As for what McKee hopes listeners feel when they tune into 'Into My Soul', he suggests finding your dancing shoes. "A reason to get up and dance," he enthuses.
"The chorus was made to be as simple as possible because I wanted to see people belting it out, fists/ index fingers to the sky and their heads thrown back like they're howling at the moon."
