A powerful, epic helping of indie pop channelling the likes of Kate Bush and Florence, Sydney singer-songwriter Jess Spahr has delivered an anthemic ballad on her first single of 2021, 'Groundhog Day'.
With scintillating strings adding all the emotional feels for a goosebump-inducing ride that'll have you spinning around, arms outstretched in utter joy, be prepared for 'Groundhog Day' to become your new, daily anthem to energise your world with positive energy. The track was conceived during COVID lockdowns last year when Jess used her extra time to write a number new songs related to the major events of 2020. "'Groundhog Day' was written about the ongoing slog of isolation in COVID," Jess says.
"I know this song will really resonate with people, since we all stared out that window day to day thinking 'this is so Groundhog Day!'."
scenestr is stoked to premiere 'Groundhog Day'. Enjoy.
With two EPs released so far (that have attracted spins of triple j as well as reaching the top of the Unearthed charts), Jess collaborated with her school friend James Ellecamp on 'Groundhog Day'. "It was awesome working with James on this one," Jess admits.
"We are pretty goofy when collaborating and recording, but he knew exactly what path I wanted to take with this single and it turned out awesome."
