Golden Guitar-nominated Australian country artist, Jason Lee previews a taste of his forthcoming 2021 studio album with his newest single, 'Whiskey Kinda Night'.

A song about a heart-crushing break-up and the emotional fallout that follows when reality sets in, but you're not yet ready to pick up the pieces, 'Whiskey Kinda Night' finds Jason wearing his emotions on his sleeve.

"It's that point in a break-up that you realise it's really over. When you look back at all the effort and love you put into the relationship, realising that they didn't want the same," Lee says.

Jason found himself battling his own emotions when laying down the vocal tracks for 'Whiskey Kinda Night'.

"I found it hard building the energy in 'Whiskey Kinda Night' and recording the vocal track as I kept getting upset and tearing up while performing it, which made it very hard to commit to a strong vocal.

"It took me a few, good takes before we nailed the vocal. When you listen to the track it is clear by the emotion in my vocals that this was the take where I held it together the best."

Ahead of its release tomorrow (13 November), scenestr is amped to premiere 'Whiskey Kinda Night' today. Enjoy.

With influences stemming from the likes of Merle Haggard, Slim Dusty, George Jones through to Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, and Jason Aldean, Jason has performed at Gympie Music Muster and Tamworth Country Music Festival, as well as supporting country music heavyweights Adam Harvey, Beccy Cole, Travis Collins and The McClymonts.

Recorded at Hillbilly Hut Studios with Simon Johnson, and produced by Johnson and Lee, 'Whiskey Kinda Night' follows Lee's previous single, 'She's In It' that scored airplay nationally.

"I'm very grateful to have a good, solid producer behind me like Simon when in a studio session as there is 100 per cent support when needed," Jason says.

"When recording vocals or producing a record there is an element of trust, and I got this from Simon Johnson on all occasions."
