If you are looking for the word to describe musician Jackie Marshall right now it has to be resilience.
Not even cancer bout number three could put this woman down, recording her best work to date and ready to get back on the road with her new single 'I’ve Been Wrong' penned with long-time friend Greg Cathcart (Silent Feature Era), which scenestr premieres today.
"'I've Been Wrong' lyrically is about owning one's mistakes and character flaws and choosing to grow and move on, wiser and more sanguine than ever," Jackie says.
"I've done and said some epically stupid things in and with my life and writing this was my way of working through the associated shame.
"In my experience people often do this funny thing where they beat themselves up over their past while failing to face issues properly and come to real terms with whatever's causing them to hang their head on the inside. I just can't live like that anymore and I wrote this hoping it might help a few others to set themselves on the path to freedom too."
"The track was recorded at Vale Sound, (producer) Leigh Ivin's studio located at the end of a magnificent granite-cloistered valley just outside of Tamworth.
"You can almost hear the tin roof tacking in the heat, the steers in the paddock outside settling for the night. The whole album is thick with Leigh's guitar-centric love for realising a ripping good tune.
"We've been friends for a long time and I knew what to expect going into the studio with him. I just let him do what I know he does best. Plus or minus a few minor but very heartfelt punches."
The release of “I’ve Been Wrong” is supported by a comprehensive tour.
